Guy masts are used generally where availability of land is  no of concern. Also it occupies very little space in farm lands that many utilities prefer guy masts. It is basically a latticed mast with square or triangular footprint supported at various levels using wire ropes, which are anchored to firm supports. The analysis and design is complicated than self supporting towers and using special purpose software many guy masts are designed by JTT.

Due to inadequate available space in roof tops for self supporting towers, some utilities prefer guy masts.
